SunEdison sells 33 MW of PV plants in Italy, Spain to KGAL
On October 10th, 2011, SunEdison LLC (Beltsville, Maryland, U.S.) announced that it has sold 33 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) plants in Italy and Spain to KGAL GmbH & Company KG (Grünwald, Germany).
These projects follow 20 MW of PV plants sold to KGAL GmbH in the second quarter of 2011, for a total of 12 projects with a total installed capacity of 53 MW. SunEdison will monitor, maintain and operate the PV plants under long-term agreements.
"This transaction demonstrates SunEdison's ability to create attractive solar investments with innovative financing and proven cost structures," states SunEdison General Manager for Europe, Middle East, North Africa and Latin America Pancho Perez.
"It also proves our commitment toward the Italian and Spanish solar markets, where we continue to develop and build outstanding projects, as well as support top local developers."
SunEdison also present in commercial rooftop, residential PV markets
The PV plants acquired by KGAL were developed by SunEdison's utility-scale projects division. SunEdison notes that it is also present in other business areas in the European PV market, including in commercial rooftop and residential PV.
SunEdison is a division of MEMC Electronic Materials Inc. (St. Peters, Missouri, U.S.).
KGAL is a German investment company owned by Commerzbank AG (Frankfurt, Germany), BayernLB (Munich, Germany), HASPA Finanzholding (Hamburg, Germany) and Sal. Oppenheim jr. & Cie. AG & Co. KGaA (Cologne, Germany).
