Tata International to launch Green Retail Stores; Powered by Solar Energy
(India PRwire) In its initiative to create sustainable environment and be eco friendly, Tata International, the first Green Leather producer of the country, is all set to launch India's first green retailing stores across India. Designed and planned on Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) principals and certified from U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the stores will set bench mark on Green Design for retailing in India.
The stores will be designed by JGA, a Detroit based leading retail design firm along with FRDC (Future Research Design Company), Bangalore. The stores will consume 40 percent less energy and will generate 15-20 percent power from solar energy. All materials used in the store are made of high content of recyclable material and everything will be procured from within 500 km of radius of the store.
The store will demonstrate a high degree of local skills usage and crafts intervention, thus providing opportunities to local craftsmen and the Industry. All process and fabrication work of the store will be monitored by Green team constituted by the architects and associate team from FRDC Bangalore and Delhi. All waste generated during the construction shall be either reused in the store or shall be supplied to recycle dealers.
The Indoor environment and air quality inside the store will be healthy and free from dust and germs. Carbon dioxide monitoring and Low volatile organic compound (VOC) materials and paint finishes will make air cleaner in the store, thus making customers feel fresh.
The external signage shall also adhere to green norms and all materials used will be eco friendly and non poisonous. Architects and Tata team is targeting LEED Gold or Platinum certification for the stores.
